Curious Sloopy

Lately Sloopy has been very curious about my ever growing belly and is trying to figure out what is going on. Today while I was sitting in the chair watching the Bucks play, he came up and placed his paw on my belly to see if he could feel Logan kick. He sat there for a long time and it was so cute! I think he's going to be a very protective and great "big brother" for Logan :)

Poor Sloopy

We took the little guy to his annual vet appointment today. He is healthy and everything looks good. The vet said she would like him to loose a couple of pounds though. So Sloopy, looks like more walks are in the future for you. While we were there he had to get two shots, which he did fine when they give it to him. On the car ride home you could tell the medicine was making him sleepy and for most of the day that is all he has done. He has a sore spot where the shots went in and we have to be careful when we pick him up. While he was napping on his favorite chair I had to take a picture of him because the poor guy could barely keep his eyes open. In this picture I think he looks either drunk or Chinese.
I hope the little feller is back to his normal spunky self tomorrow!

Snow Day!

Ah the perks of being a teacher and having a snow day. This snow day was much needed and I thought we would have had one yesterday too. The snow started to fall early yesterday morning and continued throughout the day. Every school district but ours in the county was closed. Even though I teach at a Charter school we rely on the counties school district busing. So we base our days off of what they do. For some crazy reason the superintendent of the school decided to stay open and send the kids to school. It was a crazy drive and the story even made the news because of the numerous upset parents for the decision to have school. I had several students absent and most of the other classrooms did as well. It was a pretty low key day and our principal decided that not matter what the school district decides that Wednesday we would have no school regardless. Talk about exciting news! Knowing that before you go home you don't have to come to school the next day because of a snow day! I got home safely, made dinner, and then Chris and I decided to go outside and enjoy the new freshly fallen snow by making a snowman, and of course Sloopy had to help too.

We used blueberries to make the face and were able to find some twigs from the front bush for his arms. He may be little but he is cute.

It was nice to sleep in today and I even ventured out to return some movies and pick up some laundry detergent. I shoveled the driveway and walkway, which you can't tell now because of drifting and a little more snow, and I got caught up on some things around the house. It's been a productive and relaxing day and a much needed day off from school. The weather man is saying that the snow should stop and be done today but another storm is on its way Monday. So who knows, maybe I will get another snow day next week!

Sloopy and his Bone

Have you seen the insurence commercial were the dog is trying to find the best place to keep his bone safe?

This commerercial describes Sloopy and how he is when he gets a new bone. He loves raw-hides and it has been a while since he has received a new one. His favroite place to chew his bone is on his blanket on the couch. I love taking pictures and this provided an opertunity to take some adorable picutres of Sloopy and his favorite toy, his bone. Do you see the resemblence to his protection of the bone like in the commercial?

On a side note, I came home from work on Friday to find these beutiful roses for me from Chris. I love roses and these smell great and look wonderful on our kitchen counter.

Wagfest

Today we packed up the car and headed to Wagfest, which is a huge outdoor festival at a park were all kinds of vendors come and set up and give away free things to dogs. It was hilarious to see hundreds of dogs and people walking around to each booth and then letting their dogs take a dip in the pond. Sloopy always has a great time and this year he did really well with the walking and socializing with all the dogs. We got several free samples of dog food, some treats, a fun tennis ball, and coupons for various pet stores. It was an enjoyable day and we walked away with plenty of free goodies.
Our Day at Wagfest

Sloopy in the car excited to go to Wagfest

After walking around for a while Sloopy needed to cool off in the "Cool Zone." It was a tented area that had ice all over the ground for the dogs to walk in and cool down.

Sloopy got to do one of his favorite things, Swim! He even made a friend in the water.

After our day of swimming, freebies, and friend making, Sloopy is all tuckered out in the back of the car.

Pirate Sloopy

It has been a very lazy day for Sloopy and he has spent most of it napping on the couch. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to lay his pirate toys around him and snap a picture. He wasn't to happy with me but the picture provided a good laugh and he does look a little Jack Sparrow-esque.

Sloopy's Pool Time

Today we decided to break out the kiddie pool at the in-laws house for Sloopy to swim. Last year they bought him a pool because of his love for water. You can constantly find Sloopy playing in his water bowl and staying close when someone is taking a shower. He loves water. The in-laws are out of town and we had to bring the paper in for them so decided it would be the perfect opportunity and weather to kick off pool season for Sloopy. I took a video and a picture of his pool time.

He is one happy puppy when he is in the water and loves his toys he gets to play with. He had a successful pool adventure today.

An Outing to the Dog Park

The weather was really nice today and we thought it would be great to take Sloopy to the dog park. He is such a social puppy and loves to run and visit with other dogs. I took some pictures of his adventure today.

Happily enjoying the ride to his favorite place.

Scoping for playmates.

He found some dogs. Poor guy, they are on the other side of the fence.

Had a great time and lots of fun.

All tuckered out.

Sloopy's Sleepy

Sloopy had a long day today. We got up early and had to take him to the vet for his annual check up. The poor thing had to get a couple of shots and blood drawn to check for heart worm. Everything turned out great and he is a healthy pup. The medicine did make him drowsy and sluggish. We felt a little bad for the shots he had to get so we bought him an Ohio State loofey. I laid it with him in his OSU bed while he was laying down. It was to adorable.

Besides taking Sloopy to the vet, Chris and I did some shopping and then went out to dinner at Cheesecake Factory for his mom's birthday. It was a yummy dinner and nice to see his aunt too. I think it's time to take a little break from the in-laws for a couple of days. I feel like we've seen them a lot this past week.

Sloopy's Drying off Technique

I was looking at a friends blog and she had pictures of her dog after a bath. It reminded me that I should get out my camera and record Sloppy because coincidentally it was time for Sloopy to have his bath tonight. He loves water and bathes but as soon as bath-time is over he goes crazy and has an unusual drying off technique. I hope it makes you laugh as much as it does us every-time he gets out of a bath. I know it is something I look forward to laughing at.

Sloopy

I thought I would write a little tidbit about my dog Sloopy. He is a 2 year old Shitzu with blonde/golden brown fur. I've never met a dog who is so loving and silly as this little guy is. He loves to give you kisses and greats you as soon as you walk in the door. His favorite thing to do is play with his ball and pirate hat. I have a foot stool that sits at the foot of my chair. This is his favorite place to lay. We call it a stoop and when he is laying on it we like to say "Sloop on a stoop". I know it's a little quirky thing we say. Well, tonight he decided that he wanted to try out a new "stoop" to lay on. I was working on my laptop which sits at a little computer desk in our living room and I got up to get a drink. When I came back he decided he wanted to sit on this stoop and try it out. It's a little taller then the one he usually sits on. He looked so darn cute and had a silly look on his face that I just had to take a picture. After the photo op he decided I could have my seat back and went to his toy box to grab a favorite toy to play with. He always keeps me laughing and is cuter then a button. I love this little guy and thought he should get a little post about him. i hope you find him as cute as I do :)
